Movie Review: Here Comes The Boom

Date: 18 December 2012
Venue: GSC, Paradigm Mall

Sypnosis:
In the comedy Here Comes the Boom, former collegiate wrestler Scott Voss (Kevin James) is a 42-year-old apathetic biology teacher in a failing high school. When cutbacks threaten to cancel the music program and lay off its teacher (Henry Winkler,) Scott begins to raise money by moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter. Everyone thinks Scott is crazy – most of all the school nurse, Bella (Salma Hayek) – but in his quest, Scott gains something he never expected as he becomes a sensation that rallies the entire school.

Overall: 7/10
The storyline was pretty predictable: a no-longer-motivated teacher got into a deal of helping out one of his peers to save his job, and subsequently gained back the enthusiasm he had in teaching. A typical comedy with a rather touching ending, but the comical humor in it really gave the movie some ohm!
Henry Winkler was my favorite! He was really natural, and I guess it helps that his face suits his character very well too haha

I laughed through most of the entire movie, and had a great time predicting most parts correctly (it's that predictable) The whole cinema was filled with laughter. So if you're looking for some laughs, I'd recommend this.

Special thank you to Nuffnang for the premiere screening invitation!
And also, thank you for the movie merch cup - it looks exactly like the one in the poster hehe :p
